L’ermite

C’est en remontant la Loire (France) à vélo, entre Orléans et Nevers, que mon épouse et moi avons traversé le village de Saint-Gondon et visité son église médiévale, notre préférence allant vers ces églises austères plutôt que vers les fastueuses cathédrales. Ce village porte le nom d’un ermite qui a mené, au milieu du VIe siècle dans la forêt adjacente, une vie simple, admirant la nature et s’inspirant de sa sagesse.

En 2020, ne sommes-nous pas tous devenus des ermites?

The Hermit

Cycling up the Loire (France) between Orléans and Nevers, my wife and I stopped in the village of Saint-Gondon and visited its medieval church, our preference going towards these austere churches rather than the sumptuous cathedrals. This village was named after a hermit who, in the middle of the sixth century, spent most of his simple life, admiring nature and being inspired by its wisdom.

In 2020, have we not all become hermits?
